Don't head out onto the trail unprepared, ensure that your horse's Coggins test is up to date. Interstate travel requires both a current Coggins and a health certificate. Ensure that you have both of these done ahead of time to decrease your travel stress and anxiety.
Remember that if traveling within the state of Massachusetts a Coggins test is valid for two years, but only valid for one year once a state line is crossed.
Remember to keep your horse hydrated on these hot days, make sure to always allow access to fresh water and if your horse shows signs of dehydration, offer electrolytes. It is always a good idea to carry a tube of electrolyte paste while trail riding.
Enjoy many happy hours outdoors this summer!
